The multi-award-winning Swiss company invites audiences on a journey woven with imagination and poetry in its special 50th-anniversary production, reviving some of the most beloved sketches from its half-century repertoire. Founded in Paris in 1972, Mummenschanz has become one of the world’s leading representatives of contemporary mask theatre, transcending cultural and linguistic boundaries. Without uttering a single word, the company’s three founders-Floriana Frassetto, Andres Bossard and Bernie Schürch-conquered the world through an entirely visual language, using masks that appear to float against a black backdrop. Under the name Mummenschanz, they created a completely new and distinctive form within the performing arts. Following the passing of Andres Bossard in 1992 and Bernie Schürch’s retirement in 2012, Floriana Frassetto has continued to serve as the primary artistic driving force behind the award-winning company.
